It goes without saying that Ike no Taiga (1723-76) was one of the most skilled artists of Japanese literati paintings. All his works including landscapes, figures, or flowers and birds reflect his deep spirituality. Although these four hanging screens long from side to side are small in size, they demonstrate Taiga's high degree of accomplishment as a literati painter. The diversified brushstrokes and the brilliant use of colors never lack in distinction.
