Although it is difficult to identify the specific manufacturing kiln of this vase, the white underglaze and the shape of the foot display characteristics of tangsancai, or tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang dynasty, indicating that it was probably produced by a kiln in northern China. Similar examples excavated in China suggest that it was produced in the early Tang dynasty (618-907).
