Particular to Noh, sobatsugi are front-wrapping, sleeveless coats with open side-seams and ties at the hem. In plays depicting gods and demons, they are worn together with the Tenjin-type mask by actors playing deity roles such as Idaten in Shari, Tenjin-odama in Kinsatsu (“The Golden Tablet”) and Taishakuten in Daie.
