Over a ground of interlocking circles woven entirely in flat gold thread, framed picture designs feature a variety of detailed interwoven motifs. In the late Edo period, daimyo (prestigious warrior-class) families who patronized Noh specially commissioned unique karaori robes with designs of everyday objects, in addition to the traditional flowers and birds.(20110215 h09)
