The elegant form and design of this work, bearing an oval “Akashi” seal at the foot, demonstrates the influence of Kyoto ware ceramics. Akashi ware was produced in present-day Akashi city, Hyogo prefecture. The kilns are told to have been founded in 1622, which is unclear, however, since the extant works are dated later, from the mid-Edo period and beyond. (20110419 h081)(20140325_h081)
