This work, made from hard, grey clay, is thick-walled and substantially heavy. Its glaze is characterized by a cloudy effect and exhibits crackling, mainly at the base. The shape imitates the bronze zun vessels from China’s Yin and Zhou dynasties. The widely everted upper section is decorated with incised designs of plantain leaves, while the bulging midsection features animal faces on the front, back and sides in applied relief molding. This work was reputedly preserved by the Mouri family. イタリックzun
